A well-worn, enamel-coated Dutch oven simmering on a gas stove in a homestead kitchen, its lid slightly askew so steam curls up in delicate wisps. Around the pot, a neat arrangement of chopped homegrown onions, okra, and bright green herbs sits on a scratched wooden cutting board, alongside a small bowl of freshly collected farm eggs. Warm overhead pendant lighting reflects softly off the pot’s surface, casting gentle shadows across the counter. Photographic realism with an eye-level composition and subtle bokeh in the background, where shelves lined with mason jars and dried peppers add context. The atmosphere feels cozy and hands-on, capturing the playful, experimental spirit of cooking what you just harvested.

About Mostly Farmed Recipes

Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

Mostly Farmed Recipes is a cooking and recipe blog built around one simple idea: create incredible meals using mostly what our homestead provides.

Every season brings something new to harvest. From colorful pasture-raised eggs and fresh garden vegetables to pink oyster mushrooms and wild foraged foods, our recipes are inspired by what’s growing around us. When a recipe calls for ingredients we can’t yet produce ourselves, we carefully choose organic, ethically sourced products that align with the values we live by.

Our goal isn’t perfection.

It’s progress.

We hope our journey inspires you to incorporate more homegrown food into your own meals—whether you have a large homestead, a backyard garden, or just a few herbs growing on your porch.

A vibrant sheet pan supper ready for the oven, loaded with colorful Texas garden vegetables: halved baby potatoes, thick coins of zucchini, whole garlic cloves, rainbow carrots, and meaty oyster mushrooms, all glistening with olive oil and flecks of chopped rosemary and thyme. The pan rests on a slightly flour-dusted butcher block counter in a farmhouse kitchen. Late afternoon golden light streams across from the side, making the oil sparkle and casting long, soft shadows. Photographic realism from a top-down, bird’s-eye view emphasizes the arrangement of ingredients and their textures, while the background falls away into soft blur. The mood is energetic and abundant, celebrating the ease of tossing fresh harvests together into a simple, flavorful recipe.

A close-up of a cast-iron skillet frittata just pulled from the oven, its top puffed and golden, dotted with bright green spinach, thin slices of cherry tomato, and chunks of sautéed farm mushrooms. A few cracked eggshells rest casually on a linen towel nearby, alongside a small bowl of freshly picked basil leaves. Morning sunlight filters through a nearby window, creating gentle highlights on the glossy egg surface and catching the steam rising from the hot skillet. Photographic realism with a slightly angled overhead shot and shallow depth of field keeps the frittata in sharp focus while the surrounding kitchen details blur softly. The scene feels warm, playful, and homey, ideal as a hero image for a farm-fresh breakfast recipe.
